Mission Statement

The Education and Outreach Committee of the Guitar Society of Brantford was formed in 2011 to enrich

the cultural life of Brantford and Brant County, by providing educational support for teachers,

performance opportunities for students, a meeting place for aficionados, free community concerts for

schools and hospitals, and free concert tickets for community members. These goals will be achieved

through specific programs.

The Dr. Mark Del Cantero, Cedar Springs Chiropractic,
Outreach Residency and Concert Series

This program was established with the generous support of Dr Mark and Danielle Del Cantero and

Cedar Springs Chiropractic.  It provides an aspiring guitarist a concert tour performing for some of our community's most needy and impressionable people. Performing venues include hospitals, retirement homes, hospitals, and schools. Although the recitals are presented free of charge to the organization, the performer is paid a modest stipend by the Society. The performer gains invaluable performance

experience while the audience is given the opportunity to enjoy the beauties

of the classical guitar.

If you would like to help sponsor this series, be considered as a residency performer, or know of an

organization which would benefit from a concert, please contact the coordinator at gsob@rogers.com

Guitar Ensembles Program

The community ensembles program seeks to enhance the musical education of all guitarists while at the

same time offering a vehicle to meet new friends and make music together. If you own a classical

guitar, can read music and are looking to play music with others, this group is for you. The ensembles

begin in September, have recitals in the winter and the spring, and meets every other Sunday.

If you would like to join, help sponsor, or host a recital, please contact the director at gsob@rogers.com

Pre-Concert Junior Performers Program

The Society is committed to supporting young guitarists in our community and we can think of no better

way than allowing them to share the stage with some of the world's greatest performers. This program

has talented students up to high school age perform one or two short pieces (5-7 minutes) before each of

our professional series concerts.

If you have a student you would like to recommend please contact the coordinator at gsob@rogers.com
